Nanjing

Last week me and a friend went on a road-trip (actually a rail-trip) to the ‘Southern Capital’ Nanjing.

Nanjing is of course quite a big city with around 8 million inhabitants. It takes only 1,5 hours away with the high-speed train from Shanghai to get there. Because Nanjing has been the capital of ancient Chinese kingdoms and the Republic of China it’s packed with historical sites and neighborhoods. One of the greatest features are probably the almost completely intact city wall and the Sun Yat Sen Mausoleum. We only stayed 1 night but you could easily spend another day or two in Nanjing. Our expectations of Nanjing where that it would probably be another standard second tier city but it’s completely the opposite. I highly recommend to pay Nanjing a visit if you have a chance.

Meanwhile enjoy a short selection of the pictures I took on our trip.
