From the day I arrived in Shanghai I started studying at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (上海交通大学). In my first years of studying Chinese in Holland I still used an actual paper dictionary. Luckily that has been replaced by an electronic one which makes studying a lot more fun.
Here a some of my favorite apps and websites for learning Chinese:
- Apps
- KTdict: My personal favorite Iphone dictionary and flashcards app. It’s fast and easy to use.
- Pleco: Long time favorite dictionary of most Chinese learners. Cool plugins like the OCR feature, really expensive though.
- Google Translate: I mainly use the app to translate a bulk of characters into PINYIN. Translations are useless in general
- Websites:
- www.chinesegrammar.info: Everything about Chinese grammar written in an easy to understand manner
- Chinese Grammar Wiki: The best and most complete resource on Chinese Grammar
- MDBG.net: Chinese online dictionary which features character decomposition (breaking a character down to its basic parts)
- Jukuu.net: Chinese website where you can look up example phrases.
- Various:
- Hacking Chinese: blog about learning chinese
